ABOUT LOUISE MONFETTE
Louise is a painter and sculptor living in Victoria, B.C. She has studied at the Ontario College of Art and the Victoria College of Art, graduating from VCA in 2003. Currently Louise alternates between immersing herself in acrylic painting or sculpting in clay. Living near the ocean, she is inspired by the magnificent landscape. On her daily walks by the sea, she observes people sitting on benches contemplating the tides, chatting with friends, waiting…daydreaming… Capturing their pose excites her. Landscape also inspires much of her abstract work, be it a crack in a cliff face or a stunning sunset. Over the years, Louise has worked through different themes and styles – realistic dresses, abstract mixed media, still life jars and pears and sculpture. She keeps this quote from Eric Maisel on her studio wall.
“Squander a day on a radical change, you can always go back to what you know.”
